Thank you for choosing Gear Up Music! To ensure your instrument arrives safely and is protected during transit, please follow these packaging guidelines carefully. Proper packaging is crucial to prevent damage and ensure a smooth valuation process.

1. General Packaging Tips:

  • Use a Sturdy Box: Select a strong, rigid box that's slightly larger than the instrument case for extra padding. For guitars and keyboards, we will supply a box. For other smaller instruments, you will need to find a box,
  • Wrap the Instrument: If the instrument comes with a case, ensure it's securely closed. If no case is available, wrap the instrument in bubble wrap, ensuring all parts are protected.
  • Add Padding: Use packing materials like bubble wrap, foam, or crumpled paper to fill any empty spaces in the box and prevent the instrument from moving around during transit. We will provide bubble wrap and paper for guitars and keyboards.

2. Specific Guidelines for Different Instruments:

Guitars:

  • Loosen the strings to relieve tension on the neck.
  • Place padding around the headstock to prevent movement.
  • Ensure the guitar is snug in its case, using additional padding if necessary.

Keyboards:

  • Secure any moving parts with tape.
  • Cover with a layer of bubble wrap, paying special attention to the keys.
  • ensure padding at either end of the keyboard such as bubble wrap/paper.

Wind Instruments:

  • Disassemble the instrument if possible and wrap each piece separately.
  • Fill all empty spaces in the case with soft padding.
  • If no case, wrap carefullly in bubble wrap.

String Instruments (Violins, etc.):

  • Loosen the strings and, if possible, remove the bridge.
  • Wrap the body and neck separately in soft bubble wrap.
  • Fill the case with sufficient cushioning to prevent movement.

Amplifiers:

  • Secure any loose knobs or parts.
  • Wrap the amplifier in a thick layer of bubble wrap.
  • Use a sturdy box with enough room for padding on all sides.

3. Sealing and Labeling:

  • Seal the Box: Use strong tape to seal all edges and seams of the box.
  • Labeling: Attach the shipping label securely to the box. If possible, include a 'Fragile' or 'Handle with Care' label.

4. Final Checklist:

  • Ensure all parts are securely wrapped and padded.
  • Double-check that the box is sealed and labeled correctly.
  • Keep a copy of the tracking number and shipping details for your records.
